SpargoDomains vs Cloudflare Registrar

Full disclosure up front: SpargoDomains registers domains through Cloudflare Registrar. The price is identical because it’s literally the same registration, in your own Cloudflare account. So this page isn’t "us vs them" — it’s "the dashboard alone vs the dashboard plus a workspace". Cloudflare’s page (checked 2026-08-23) confirms the model: no markup, you pay what registries and ICANN charge, with free DNS, SSL, and WHOIS redaction.

How Cloudflare Registrar works

  • At-cost pricing, confirmed on their page (checked 2026-08-23): "Cloudflare Registrar does not mark up domain prices at all."
  • Free WHOIS redaction, free DNS, free universal DNSSEC — the substrate SpargoDomains builds on.
  • The dashboard search is exact-match: it checks the name you type. There’s no name invention, no batch discovery, no naming help.
  • No launch tracking: after registration, the dashboard shows the domain; whether DNS points anywhere or the site answers is your job to check.
  • Domains at Cloudflare must use Cloudflare nameservers — true for SpargoDomains too, since it’s the same registration.

How SpargoDomains works

  • Domains are registered through Cloudflare Registrar into your own Cloudflare account, at Cloudflare’s cost — about $10.46 for a .com today. We never touch the money, so a markup isn’t just absent, it’s impossible.
  • The renewal price is shown next to the first-year price before you commit, and it’s the same number — at-cost pricing has no promotional cliff.
  • No upsells anywhere: no hosting, no email plans, no site builders, no countdown timers. Search, confirm, done.
  • Price and availability are re-verified the moment before purchase; any change is a hard stop that asks you again. A purchase is never retried silently.
  • After you buy, the workspace keeps watching: Named → Pointed → Alive, from real DNS and HTTPS checks.
  • The honest catch: you need a Cloudflare account, domains there use Cloudflare nameservers, premium domains and transfers aren’t supported in the app yet, and the workspace itself will cost money (draft: $79/year founding) while the domains stay at cost.

Pick Cloudflare Registrar if…

Use the bare dashboard if you already know your domain name and just want to register it — it’s excellent, and it’s what we use underneath.

Pick SpargoDomains if…

Add SpargoDomains if naming is part of your process: invented candidates checked live in batches, renewal prices surfaced before you commit, purchase safety rails, and the Named → Pointed → Alive watch after. Same domain, same price — more workspace.
